We now live in a world where information travels faster than the speed of light. Events happening in one region of the world can be known in another part of the world, just within a few seconds. The world of “instants” has its benefits as well as shortcomings. One of the disadvantages is that we are now under constant and intense pressure to be like everyone else around us. As a child of God, you are under pressured to dress, spend, talk, live, accept, and conform to the new world norms and orders. These new normal often deviates from the world of God. To live a Christian life, you should tune out the noise. In this 3-day teaching, I will be sharing with you strategies that will help you to tune out those noises and negative influence around you, and live a purpose-driven life.

Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is — what is good and pleasing and mature. — Romans 12:2 (CEB)

Do you find it challenging to live true to your Godly value today?

Are you facing some pressure to be like everyone else around you?

Check out how you can block the noise and distractions around you, and live like a champion.

When you embark on a journey to make a difference in the world, and you are attempting to do something that will distinguish you from the multitudes, there will be several people around you who will tell you to slow it down. They will tell you that what you are trying to do is unrealistic and unattainable; they will try to lecture you to shift focus and redirect your energy to what is realistic in their opinions. Most of the time, these people may genuinely care about you in one way or the other; they really want to help you in a way they think is best. The problem is that they do not know what God has deposited within you; they are not sharing your dreams with you. You own your dream, and you must look to God to help you turn those dreams into reality.

The best strategy to adopt when dealing with external pressure is to block out the noise. To become a winner, you do not only need to know how to block out or filter the external noise and pressure, but you also need to develop the right perspective about any condition in which you find yourself. I can assure you that it takes gut not to be influenced by these external pressures, but over time you will learn to trust your own judgment and connect with like-minded people that share similar values as yourself.

There is an intense pressure in our society regarding how successful we should be, what type of car we should drive, which kind of neighborhood we should live in, and how we should dress. If in one way or the other you are not in conformance with society’s expectations, then there is a high tendency that you may feel isolated or alone. Steve Jobs, during his 2007 commencement speech at Stanford University, said, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.

Goliath stood and shouted to the battle lines of Israel, saying to them, “Why have you come out to draw up for battle? Am I not the Philistine, and are you not servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves and have him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will become your servants; but if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall become our servants and serve us. — 1 Samuel 17: 8–9 (AMP)

Ponder on these…

Do other people’s opinions easily sway you?

Do you let the opinions of others determine what you want to do or become in life?

How much do you care about what others think about you?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for depositing talents and dreams in me. Please help me so that the influence of the society will not prevent me from living according to your purpose for me.
